A good example is @ 2:01 you can see the camera zoom in on Liu Kang's face getting hit to make the kick have more impact which Jackie Chan's movies always do. In one of Jackie's interviews this makes the hit make it look heavy to the audience. Yes it's very dramatic but it really works when done right. Nowadays it's no longer done because you need 2 shots to do this, 1st one is the incoming hit and 2nd is the zoomed in shot. People now just want to see from a certain distance 1 continuous fight sequence with no zoom-in or cuts on fights which isn't bad but sometimes it makes certain heavy attacks look like they were just regular kicks or punches and just rely on sound effects to make it look painful.
